Kenny Turck

LICSW, MSW – President & Chief Executive Officer

Kenny is the President and Chief Executive Officer, Co-Owner, and founder of Crow River Family Services based in Hutchinson, Minnesota and has been working with kids and families for over 25 years. In 2010, Kenny received the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-MN) Paul & Shelia Wellstone Social Justice Award for his work with marginalized populations in food security and local foods issues. In 2015, Kenny was invited to give a MHED Talk at MACMH  about his program at the “largest children’s mental health conference in the nation”. DIRT GROUP, is a trauma-informed children’s mental health application based in social and emotional learning, in the context of a gardening/farming/food/creative arts program. In September of 2015, DIRT GROUP was honored as NASW-MN Program of the Month.

Kenny is a highly sought after trainer, therapist, and mental health practitioner providing therapy and skills-based education to children and families. Kenny has received additional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Stress Management, and Grief and Loss Counseling. Kenny is a professional, engaging speaker addressing topics related to adolescent mental health.

Kenny grew up on his family farm where his family has called home since 1875. It is this century farm that serves as the main experiential site for DIRT GROUP which is grounded in, and informed by, five major theories and recent findings in neuroscience. DIRT GROUP was the focus of Kenny’s thesis research studying how participation in experiential gardening groups influences social skills development in at-risk youth. Kenny earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Psychology from St. John’s University and his Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from St. Cloud State University where he also teaches as an adjunct professor in the Social Work Department.
